अयं च पितृयानानां चन्द्रमा द्वारमुच्यते । एष काष्ठा दिशश्वैव संवत्सरयुगादि च

Transliteration

ayaṃ ca pitṛyānānāṃ candramā dvāram ucyate | eṣa kāṣṭhā diśaś caiva saṃvatsarayugādi ca

Translation

Vāyu said: “The Moon is spoken of as the gateway for those who travel the path of the ancestors (pitṛyāna). From him are also reckoned the divisions of time and direction—such as the quarters, the fixed points (kāṣṭhā), and the measures beginning with the year and the yuga.”
