Bhīṣma’s Yogic Departure, Royal Cremation, and Gaṅgā’s Lament (भीष्मस्य योगयुक्त्या देहत्यागः, पितृमेधः, गङ्गाविलापः)

दुर्योधनश्व शोच्चो5सौ सपुत्र भ्रातृबान्धव: । कृतवान्‌ यो<बुद्धि: क्रोधाद्धरिगाण्डीविविग्रहम्‌,आज वह दुर्योधन अपने पुत्र, भाई और सम्बन्धियोंसहित शोकका विषय हो गया है; क्योंकि उस मूर्खने क्रोधके आवेशमें आकर श्रीकृष्ण और अर्जुनसे युद्ध ठाना था

duryodhanaś ca śocyo 'sau saputra-bhrātṛ-bāndhavaḥ | kṛtavān yo 'buddhiḥ krodhād hari-gāṇḍīvi-vigraham ||

Bhishma said: “Duryodhana has become an object of lamentation—along with his sons, brothers, and kinsmen—because that foolish man, driven by the surge of anger, resolved to wage war against Krishna and Arjuna (the wielder of the Gandiva).”
