Educational Q&A

The verse foregrounds the sanctity of household lineage and the moral weight placed on protecting a righteous family’s continuity—especially the vulnerable state of pregnancy—within the broader dharmic world of the epic.

Sauti introduces Pulomā, Bhṛgu’s beloved and well-known wife, and states that she has conceived a child from Bhṛgu. This functions as a key setup for the subsequent events involving danger to Pulomā and the unborn child.
