शौनक उवाच सूतपुत्र यथा तस्य भार्गवस्य महात्मन: । च्यवनत्वं परिख्यातं तन्‍्ममाचक्ष्व पृच्छत:,शौनकजी बोले--सूतपुत्र! मैं पूछता हूँ कि महात्मा भार्गवका नाम च्यवन कैसे प्रसिद्ध हुआ? यह मुझे बताइये

Śaunaka uvāca: Sūtaputra yathā tasya Bhārgavasya mahātmanaḥ | cyavanatvaṁ parikhyātaṁ tan mamācakṣva pṛcchataḥ ||

Śaunaka said: “O son of the Sūta, since you know the tradition, tell me—when I ask—how that great-souled Bhārgava came to be renowned by the name ‘Cyavana.’”
