Vaiśampāyana said: “Beseech those two for aid in the work of burning the Khāṇḍava forest. Then you will be able to consume that woodland with fire, even though it is guarded by the Thirty gods, led by Indra.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse emphasizes that daunting aims—especially those opposed by powerful forces—are achieved through seeking capable allies and coordinated effort, not mere individual strength.
A speaker instructs someone to ask “those two” for help in burning the Khāṇḍava forest, stating that with their assistance the forest can be burned even though the gods (tridaśas, led by Indra) are guarding it.
