Śārṅgakānāṃ Avināśaḥ (Why the Śārṅga Birds Were Spared) | शार्ङ्गकानामविनाशः
सम्पूज्यमान: पौरैश्व ब्राह्मणैश्व सहस्रश: | विवेश भवन राज्ञ: पुरन्दरगृहोपमम्,पुरवासी मनुष्यों तथा सहसों ब्राह्मणोंद्वारा सम्मानित हो उन्होंने राजभवनके भीतर प्रवेश किया। वह घर इन्द्रभवनकी शोभाको भी तिरस्कृत कर रहा था
sampūjyamānaḥ pauraiś ca brāhmaṇaiś ca sahasraśaḥ | viveśa bhavanaṃ rājñaḥ purandaragṛhopamam ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Honoured again and again by the townspeople and by thousands of brāhmaṇas, he entered the king’s palace—splendid like the mansion of Purandara (Indra). The scene upholds a social-ethical ideal: public reverence and brahminical esteem bestow legitimacy and auspiciousness upon royal space and upon the one received there.
