Samantapañcaka Narrative and the Measure of an Akṣauhiṇī

bhīmasya grahaṇaṃ cātra parvatābhogavarṣmaṇā | bhujagendreṇa balinā tasmin sugahane vane ||

There, in that dense and difficult forest, a mighty lord of serpents—huge-bodied like a mountain—seized Bhīma. The episode shows how even great strength may be suddenly checked by unforeseen forces, calling for steadiness, discernment, and reliance on right counsel rather than mere physical power.

Educational Q&A

Physical might alone is not sufficient; sudden adversity can overpower even the strongest. The ethical emphasis is on composure, humility, and seeking wise means (dharma-guided response) when confronted by unexpected danger.

In a thick, hard-to-traverse forest, a gigantic and powerful serpent (bhujagendra/ajagara), mountain-like in size, catches and restrains Bhīma.
