“At his command—he whose mind is cruel—I have come here. And here I beheld your mighty son, radiant like newly wrought gold.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse contrasts inner disposition and outward splendor: a ‘cruel-minded’ instigator sends the speaker, while the son is described as mighty and radiant. Ethically, it highlights how actions may be driven by harsh intent even when directed toward someone admirable, urging discernment about motives behind commands.
A female speaker reports that she came to the place because a cruel-minded person ordered her to do so, and upon arriving she saw the addressee’s powerful son, described with the striking image of shining like newly made gold.
