तौ ते ददृशुरासक्तौ विकर्षन्तौ परस्परम् | काड्क्षमाणौ जयं चैव सिंहाविव बलोत्कटौ,तदनन्तर उन्होंने देखा कि वे दोनों प्रचण्ड बलशाली सिंहोंकी भाँति आपसमें गुथ गये हैं और अपनी-अपनी विजय चाहते हुए एक-दूसरेको घसीट रहे हैं
vaiśampāyana uvāca |
tau te dadṛśur āsaktau vikarṣantau parasparam |
kāṅkṣamāṇau jayaṃ caiva siṃhāv iva balotkaṭau ||
Vaiśampāyana said: Then they saw those two locked fast in combat, each dragging the other, both yearning for victory—like two mighty lions, fierce with overpowering strength.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights the binding power of competitive desire: when both sides cling to victory, conflict becomes a mutual entanglement where each pulls the other deeper into struggle. It implicitly cautions that fixation on triumph can intensify violence rather than resolve it.
Observers witness two opponents grappling tightly, dragging one another while each seeks victory, compared to two powerful lions locked in a contest of strength.
