संग्रहे विग्रहे चैव यत्न: कार्योडनसूयता । उत्साहश्चापि यत्नेन कर्तव्यो भूतिमिच्छता,ऐश्वर्यकी इच्छा रखनेवाले राजाको दूसरोंके दोष न बताकर सदा आवश्यक सामग्रीके संग्रह और शत्रुओंके साथ विग्रह (युद्ध) करनेका प्रयत्न करते रहना चाहिये; साथ ही यत्नपूर्वक अपने उत्साहको बनाये रखना चाहिये
saṅgrahe vigrahe caiva yatnaḥ kāryo 'n asūyatā | utsāhaś cāpi yatnena kartavyo bhūtim icchatā ||
Kaṇika said: “A king who seeks prosperity and sovereign power should, without fault-finding or envy toward others, constantly apply himself to two disciplines: the careful accumulation and management of necessary resources, and the readiness to confront enemies through decisive conflict when required. Along with this, he must deliberately sustain his own spirit and initiative, for success depends on maintained resolve.”
