Secondary Creation Begins: Brahmā’s Productions, the Guṇas, and the Emergence of Orders of Beings
स किन्नरान किम्पुरुषान् प्रत्यात्म्येनासृजत्प्रभु: । मानयन्नात्मनात्मानमात्माभासं विलोकयन् ॥ ४५ ॥
sa kinnarān kimpuruṣān pratyātmyenāsṛjat prabhuḥ mānayann ātmanātmānam ātmābhāsaṁ vilokayan
One day Brahmā, the creator of living beings, beheld his own reflection in the water; admiring himself, he brought forth from that reflection the Kimpuruṣas and the Kinnaras.
In Canto 3, Chapter 20, this verse states that the Supreme Lord manifested the Kinnaras and Kimpuruṣas from His own reflected self (ātmābhāsa), indicating creation occurs through His divine potency rather than material effort.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī speaks this verse while describing the stages of creation to King Parīkṣit.
The verse reinforces that all varieties of life have a divine origin; cultivating reverence for all beings and remembering the Supreme as the source supports humility, devotion, and a more dharmic way of living.
