It is still a respectful practice to circumambulate the Lord in Hindu temples. Especially in Vaiṣṇava temples there is an arrangement for people to offer their respects to the Deity and circumambulate the temple at least three times.

FAQs

This verse presents parikramā—along with obeisances—as a devotional act performed before the Lord, leading to joy and the devotee’s auspicious fortune (vaiṣṇavī śrī).

Śukadeva Gosvāmī narrates that the devotees present circumambulated and bowed to the Lord, received His approval, and then departed delighted while praising vaiṣṇavī śrī.

Cultivate simple bhakti habits—respectful prayer, humility (praṇāma), and remembrance (like parikramā)—and measure “prosperity” by inner clarity, devotion, and service-mindedness rather than mere material gain.
