Vidura Leaves Hastināpura and Meets Uddhava
Vidura’s Tīrtha-yātrā Begins
kaccit sukhaṁ sātvata-vṛṣṇi-bhoja- dāśārhakāṇām adhipaḥ sa āste yam abhyaṣiñcac chata-patra-netro nṛpāsanāśāṁ parihṛtya dūrāt
My friend, is Ugrasena—the king of the Sātvatas, Vṛṣṇis, Bhojas, and Dāśārhas—now doing well? Though he had cast far away all hope of the royal throne, lotus-eyed Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa again installed him by sacred coronation.
Vidura asks about the chief of the Sātvata/Yadu clans—one whom Lord Kṛṣṇa personally installed as leader, highlighting a ruler connected with Kṛṣṇa and free from selfish ambition.
Because Vidura is inquiring about the welfare of Kṛṣṇa’s devotees and family after Kṛṣṇa’s departure from public affairs; his questions reflect affectionate concern for those sheltered by the Lord.
Leadership is meant for service, not ego; the verse teaches renouncing personal ambition and accepting responsibility only as an offering to God and the community.
