From Jarāsandha came Sahadeva; from Sahadeva, Somāpi; and from Somāpi, Śrutaśravā. Parīkṣi, a son of Kuru, had no offspring, but Jahnu, another son of Kuru, had a son named Suratha.
They are kings listed in the Puru dynasty genealogy; the verse notes their appearance in succession and specifically mentions that Parīkṣi was childless.
In dynastic narration, noting childlessness explains breaks or shifts in succession and clarifies how the lineage continues through other branches.
They ground the Purāṇic narratives in continuity, highlight the impermanence of worldly legacy, and encourage seekers to prioritize enduring spiritual inheritance—bhakti.
