Paraśurāma Avenges Jamadagni; Restoration Through Sacrifice; Viśvāmitra’s Line and Devarāta (Śunaḥśepha)
स होवाच मधुच्छन्दा: सार्धं पञ्चाशता तत: । यन्नो भवान् सञ्जानीते तस्मिंस्तिष्ठामहे वयम् ॥ ३४ ॥
sa hovāca madhucchandāḥ sārdhaṁ pañcāśatā tataḥ yan no bhavān sañjānīte tasmiṁs tiṣṭhāmahe vayam
When the elder brothers were cursed, Madhucchandā, together with the younger fifty, approached their father and said, “Dear Father, we shall abide by whatever arrangement you decide.”
This verse shows a disciplined, dharmic attitude: Madhucchandā and the others declare they will stand by whatever their respected superior decides, reflecting obedience and humility.
He represents the group’s unified resolve, expressing collective consent to accept the decision of the honored person addressed in the narrative.
It encourages unity, humility, and faithful follow-through—seeking guidance from qualified elders/teachers and then sincerely acting according to that guidance.
