But then his brother Vidūratha, overwhelmed with grief for his slain brother, came forward breathing heavily, sword and shield in hand, intent on killing the Lord.
Vidūratha is the brother of Kṛṣṇa’s slain opponent in this episode; grief for his brother overwhelms him and turns into vengeful rage, so he rushes at Kṛṣṇa with sword and shield intending to kill Him.
It depicts how intense lamentation (śoka) can quickly transform into violent anger and revenge, pushing a person toward destructive, adharmic action.
When loss or insult arises, recognize the surge of grief and anger early; instead of acting impulsively, redirect the mind toward prayer, restraint, and dharmic decision-making.
