Mucukunda’s Departure; Jarāsandha’s Pursuit; Prelude to Rukmiṇī’s Abduction
Rukmiṇī’s Message Begins
तत उत्पत्य तरसा दह्यमानतटादुभौ । दशैकयोजनात्तुङ्गान्निपेततुरधो भुवि ॥ १२ ॥
tata utpatya tarasā dahyamāna-taṭād ubhau daśaika-yojanāt tuṅgān nipetatur adho bhuvi
Then the two of Them suddenly leapt with great speed from the burning mountainside, from a height of eleven yojanas, and came down to the earth below.
Eleven yojanas is approximately ninety miles.
This verse describes two persons leaping from a burning riverbank and falling from a great height (eleven yojanas) down to the earth, as part of the fast-moving narrative in Canto 10, Chapter 52.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī is narrating this verse to King Parīkṣit as part of the Rukmiṇī–Kṛṣṇa episode.
It highlights how quickly circumstances can change in intense moments; a devotee learns steadiness and remembrance of the Lord even amid sudden danger and upheaval.
