The Killing of Cāṇūra, Muṣṭika, and Kaṁsa; Liberation and Restoration of Dharma in Mathurā

जना: प्रजहृषु: सर्वे कर्मणा रामकृष्णयो: । ऋते कंसं विप्रमुख्या: साधव: साधु साध्विति ॥ ३० ॥

janāḥ prajahṛṣuḥ sarve karmaṇā rāma-kṛṣṇayoḥ ṛte kaṁsaṁ vipra-mukhyāḥ sādhavaḥ sādhu sādhv iti

Everyone except Kaṁsa rejoiced at the wonderful feat Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma had performed. The exalted brāhmaṇas and great saints exclaimed, “Excellent! Excellent!”

It is understood that as the best of the brāhmaṇas and saints were exclaiming “Excellent! Excellent!” the worst of the brāhmaṇas, namely Kaṁsa’s priests, were seriously grieving.

This verse shows that saintly devotees—led by learned brāhmaṇas—rejoice in Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma’s deeds and openly glorify them, exclaiming “sādhu, sādhu” (“well done”).

Because Kaṁsa was opposed to them and feared their power; his adharma made him unable to relish the very deeds that filled the righteous assembly with joy.

It teaches appreciative glorification—cultivating the habit of recognizing and praising genuinely virtuous, God-centered actions rather than reacting from envy or fear.
