The Appearance of Lord Viṣṇu (Kṛṣṇa) and the Divine Exchange with Yoga-māyā

śrī-śuka uvāca ity uktvāsīd dharis tūṣṇīṁ bhagavān ātma-māyayā pitroḥ sampaśyatoḥ sadyo babhūva prākṛtaḥ śiśuḥ
Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: Having thus instructed His father and mother, the Supreme Lord Hari fell silent. Then, by His internal potency, before their very eyes, He at once became a small human infant.
As stated in Bhagavad-gītā (4.6) , sambhavāmy ātma-māyayā: whatever is done by the Supreme Personality of Godhead is done by His spiritual energy; nothing is forced upon Him by the material energy. This is the difference between the Lord and an ordinary living being. The Vedas say:
This verse states that after speaking to His parents, Lord Hari used His own potency (ātma-māyā) and instantly assumed the form of a normal infant while Devakī and Vasudeva watched.
The narrative shows the Lord first revealing His divine nature and instructions, then concealing that majesty through Yogamāyā so the parental mood (vātsalya) of Devakī and Vasudeva could unfold naturally and the earthly līlā could proceed.
The verse teaches that God’s greatness can be hidden behind simplicity; devotees can practice humility, protect sacred relationships, and trust that divine guidance may come in ordinary-looking circumstances.
