The Fall of Purañjana and the Supersoul as the Eternal Friend
Purañjana-Upākhyāna Culmination
आस्ते स्थाणुरिवैकत्र दिव्यं वर्षशतं स्थिर: । वासुदेवे भगवति नान्यद्वेदोद्वहन् रतिम् ॥ ३९ ॥
āste sthāṇur ivaikatra divyaṁ varṣa-śataṁ sthiraḥ vāsudeve bhagavati nānyad vedodvahan ratim
Thus he remained in one place, immovable like a pillar, for one hundred years by the demigods’ reckoning. After that, pure devotional attraction arose in him for Bhagavān Vāsudeva, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, and he stayed firmly fixed in that state.
bahūnāṁ janmanām ante jñānavān māṁ prapadyate vāsudevaḥ sarvam iti sa mahātmā sudurlabhaḥ
This verse describes single-pointed devotion: remaining steady and absorbed in Lord Vāsudeva alone, without interest in anything else.
To emphasize unwavering steadiness (sthira-bhāva) in devotion—firm absorption in God that does not waver with time or circumstance.
Practice consistent daily bhakti—japa, hearing Bhāgavatam, and remembrance—so that devotion becomes the primary inner attachment amid changing routines.
