Aditi’s Lament and Kaśyapa’s Instruction of the Payo-vrata (Milk Vow) to Please Keśava
एतत्पयोव्रतं नाम पुरुषाराधनं परम् । पितामहेनाभिहितं मया ते समुदाहृतम् ॥ ५८ ॥
etat payo-vrataṁ nāma puruṣārādhanaṁ param pitāmahenābhihitaṁ mayā te samudāhṛtam
This is the sacred observance called payo-vrata, the supreme worship of the Puruṣa, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. I received this teaching from Brahmā, my grandfather, and have now described it to you in full detail.
This verse states that Payo-vrata is a supreme vow for worshiping the Supreme Person (Lord Viṣṇu), originally taught by Brahmā and narrated here by Śukadeva.
Śukadeva highlights Brahmā as the original authority for this vow, strengthening its scriptural legitimacy while concluding his explanation to the listener.
Adopt a disciplined, devotion-centered observance—simple diet, regulated habits, and focused prayer to Lord Viṣṇu—keeping the purpose as heartfelt worship rather than mere ritual.
