From heaven let the Ādityas guard me; from earth let the Fires guard. Let Indra-and-Agni guard me from the front; let the Aśvins on either side bestow shelter. Let the crosswise Aghnyā protect; let Jātavedas—let the Makers of beings—be for me, from every side, an armour.
Rishi: Atharvanic tradition (not specified in excerpt).
Devata: Ādityas; Agni(s); Indrāgnī; Aśvins; Aghnyā; Jātavedas; Bhūtakṛt (cosmic makers).
Chandas: Triṣṭubh/Jagatī-like expansion (long, late AV composite lineation; not strict RV metrical regularity).
