Those Fathers of our father, those grandsires, who have passed and entered the broad mid-air—unto them the self-ruling Life-guidance, even to-day, disposeth for our bodies a state not subject to the compulsion of the road.
Rishi: Traditionally associated with funerary Atharvanic seers (Atharvan/Angiras complex; hymn-level attribution varies by anukramaṇī).
Devata: Pitṛs (Fathers/ancestors); secondarily ‘Asunīti’ as vivifying ordinance/power.
Chandas: Triṣṭubh-like cadence (late Atharvanic funerary style; metrical exactness varies by recension).
