Sukta 2
आ वां प्रजां जनयतु प्रजापतिरहोरात्राभ्यां समनक्त्वर्यमा। अदुर्मङ्गली पतिलोकमा विशेमं शं नो भव द्विपदे शं चतुष्पदे
ā́ vāṃ prajā́ṃ janayatu prajā́pátir ahorātrā́bhyāṃ sám anaktu aryamā́ | ádurmaṅgalī patilokám ā́ viśemáṃ śáṃ no bhava dvipáde śáṃ cátuṣpade |
May Prajāpati beget for you two progeny; may Aryaman with day and night anoint you wholly. Un-ill-omened, may I enter the husband’s world: be welfare unto us—welfare to the two-footed, welfare to the four-footed.
Rishi: Within the AV 14.2 vivāha corpus (anukramaṇī-dependent).
Devata: Prajāpati, Aryaman; welfare (śam) as a quasi-personified boon.
Chandas: Mixed/variable domestic meter (often treated as Triṣṭubh/Jagatī-like in AV vivāha sequences).
{"primary_rasa":"shanta","secondary_rasa":"shringara","emotional_arc":"From petition for progeny and consecration → confidence in auspicious entry → expansive welfare for all beings of the house.","listener_experience":"Settling, reassuring, socially affirming; feels like a threshold-blessing.","intensity":4}
