Sukta 5
(२) अग्नेर्भाग स्थ । अपां शुक्रमापो देवीर्वर्चो अस्मासु धत्त । प्रजापतेर्वो धाम्नास्मै लोकाय सादये
agnér bhāgá sthá | apā́ṃ śukrám ā́po devī́r várcó asmā́su dhatta | prajā́pater vó dhā́mnā́smái lokā́ya sādáye
Ye are Agni’s portion. O bright Ones of the Waters, O Waters, Goddesses, bestow ye splendour upon us. By Prajāpati’s ordinance—by your own established might—do I seat this man in yonder world (his proper realm).
Rishi: Traditionally Atharvanic/Angirasic attribution for AV 10.5 (hymn-level; verse-specific r̥ṣi not isolated in most indices).
Devata: Āpaḥ (Waters) with invoked allotment to Agni; Prajāpati as authorizing power.
Chandas: Mixed/prose-like Atharvanic cadence; often treated as Anuṣṭubh-like in practical recitation, though not strictly metrical.
