The Origin of Rudra, the Disruption of Dakṣa’s Sacrifice, and the Establishment of Paśupati

जातः प्रजानां पतिरुग्रतेजा ज्ञानं परं तत्त्वभावं विदित्वा । सृष्टिं सिसृक्षुः क्षुभितोऽतिकोपाद् वृद्धिकाले जगतः प्रकामम् ॥ ३३.२ ॥

jātaḥ prajānāṁ patir ugratejā jñānaṁ paraṁ tattvabhāvaṁ viditvā | sṛṣṭiṁ sisṛkṣuḥ kṣubhito 'tikopād vṛddhikāle jagataḥ prakāmam || 33.2 ||

Als Herr der Geschöpfe geboren, von gewaltiger Ausstrahlung, und nachdem er das höchste Wissen—die wahre Natur der Wirklichkeit (tattva)—erkannt hatte, geriet er, die Schöpfung hervorbringen wollend, in Erregung; und durch übermäßigen Zorn, zur Zeit der Ausdehnung der Welt, vollzog sich die Schöpfung in ganzer Fülle.
