Ritual Procedure for Śrāddha: Sequence, Eligibility, and Offerings to Ancestors

पूजयित्वा द्विजाग्र्याणां दद्यादाचमनं बुधः । पैत्रेभ्यः प्रथमं भक्त्या तन्मनस्को द्विजेश्वर ॥ १४.३७ ॥

pūjayitvā dvijāgryāṇāṁ dadyād ācamanaṁ budhaḥ | paitrebhyaḥ prathamaṁ bhaktyā tanmanasko dvijeśvara || 14.37 ||

Nachdem er die Vorzüglichsten unter den Zweimalgeborenen geehrt hat, soll der Weise Wasser zum Ācamana (rituellen Schluck) darreichen. Zuerst, in Hingabe und mit gesammelt gerichtetem Geist, soll er den Pitṛs, den Ahnen, opfern — o Herr der Zweimalgeborenen.
