Skanda Purana — Prabhasa Khanda, Shloka 26

पिंडे गयाशतगुणममासोमयुते दिने । भूतायां पिंडदस्तत्र कुलकोटिं समुद्धरेत्

piṃḍe gayāśataguṇamamāsomayute dine | bhūtāyāṃ piṃḍadastatra kulakoṭiṃ samuddharet

Wer dort eine piṇḍa (Toten- und Ahnenopfergabe) darbringt, erlangt Verdienst, hundertfach größer als in Gayā, besonders am Neumondtag (amāvasyā), der mit dem Montag zusammenfällt. Bringt man dort am Bhūtā-tithi piṇḍa dar, so erhebt man sogar ein Krore der eigenen Sippe.
