निवासाय प्रभोऽस्माकं स्थानं किंचित्समादिश । अहं श्रेष्ठो ह्यहं श्रेष्ठ इत्येवं ते परस्परम् । जल्पंतः सर्वतो देव पर्यटंति यथेच्छया
nivāsāya prabho'smākaṃ sthānaṃ kiṃcitsamādiśa | ahaṃ śreṣṭho hyahaṃ śreṣṭha ityevaṃ te parasparam | jalpaṃtaḥ sarvato deva paryaṭaṃti yathecchayā
„O Herr, weise uns einen Ort zum Wohnen zu.“ So stritten sie untereinander: „Ich bin der Höchste, ja, ich bin der Höchste!“ — und, o Gott, so redend, wanderten sie nach Belieben überall umher.
