भरद्वाज उवाच । जीर्यंति जीर्यतः केशा दंता जीर्यंति जीर्यतः । चक्षुः श्रोत्रे च जीर्येते तृष्णैका न तु जीर्यते

Transliteration

bharadvāja uvāca | jīryaṃti jīryataḥ keśā daṃtā jīryaṃti jīryataḥ | cakṣuḥ śrotre ca jīryete tṛṣṇaikā na tu jīryate

Translation

Bharadvāja sprach: Wenn man altert, altern die Haare; wenn man altert, altern die Zähne. Auch Augen und Ohren verfallen — nur das Verlangen (tṛṣṇā) verfällt nicht.
