तस्माद्गर्वो नैव कार्यो गर्वस्यैतत्फलं स्मृतम् । शृणुष्वानुग्रहं बाले श्रुत्वा चैवावधारय

Transliteration

tasmādgarvo naiva kāryo garvasyaitatphalaṃ smṛtam | śṛṇuṣvānugrahaṃ bāle śrutvā caivāvadhāraya

Translation

«Darum soll Hochmut niemals gepflegt werden; dies gilt als die Frucht des Hochmuts. Nun höre, Kind, die Gnade, die ich gewähren werde; und nachdem du sie gehört hast, bewahre sie fest im Sinn.»
