ईश्वर उवाच । ततो गच्छेन्महादेवि यत्र जांबवती नदी । पुरा जांबवतीनाम विष्णोर्या महिषीप्रिया । अपृच्छदर्जुनं साध्वी वद वार्तां कुरू द्वह
īśvara uvāca | tato gacchenmahādevi yatra jāṃbavatī nadī | purā jāṃbavatīnāma viṣṇoryā mahiṣīpriyā | apṛcchadarjunaṃ sādhvī vada vārtāṃ kurū dvaha
Īśvara sprach: „Dann, o Mahādevī, soll man dorthin gehen, wo der Fluss Jāmbavatī strömt. Einst befragte die keusche Frau namens Jāmbavatī—geliebte Königin Viṣṇus—Arjuna und sprach: ‚Berichte mir die Kunde; sprich die Wahrheit, ohne etwas zu verbergen.‘“
