yama uvāca | akāle nātra cāyāti kaścidbrāhmaṇasattama | muhūrtamapi no jīvetpūrṇakālena vai bhuvi
Type: kshetra
Listener: brāhmaṇa-sattama (the brāhmaṇa)
Scene: Yama, majestic and impartial, addresses a brāhmaṇa with calm authority, emphasizing that no one comes before the appointed time; the sacred precinct frames the moral instruction.
Life and death operate under dharma through the appointed force of time (kāla); one cannot overstay the destined term.
Prabhāsa Kṣetra (Prabhāsakṣetra), whose Māhātmya frames this teaching on dharma and cosmic order.
No direct ritual is prescribed here; the verse establishes the doctrine of fixed time (kāla) governing departure from life.
