Skanda Purana — Prabhasa Khanda, Shloka 35

अस्नाताशी मलं भुंक्ते अजापी पूयशोणितम् । अहुत्वा तु कृमीन्भुंक्ते अदत्त्वा विषभोजनम्

asnātāśī malaṃ bhuṃkte ajāpī pūyaśoṇitam | ahutvā tu kṛmīnbhuṃkte adattvā viṣabhojanam

Wer ohne Bad isst, ist, als äße er Unrat; wer kein Japa rezitiert, ist, als tränke er Eiter und Blut; wer isst, ohne zuvor dem heiligen Feuer/den Göttern darzubringen, ist, als äße er Würmer; und wer isst, ohne dāna (Almosen) zu geben, ist, als äße er Gift.
