brahmovāca | yadi tuṣṭo'si me deva yāja yāmīti me matiḥ | sthānaṃ ca yanmahāpuṇyaṃ tanmamākhyātumarhasi
Tirtha: Prabhāsa-kṣetra (as mahā-puṇya-sthāna sought for yajña)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Śiva (Mahādeva)
Scene: Brahmā, humbled yet resolute, asks Śiva for permission and guidance: he wishes to perform a yajña and requests the revelation of the most meritorious place. The setting remains the liṅga precinct, charged with tapas-earned sanctity.
Right ritual (yajña) is to be grounded in right place (puṇya-kṣetra), showing the Purāṇic emphasis on sacred geography.
Brahmā asks Śiva to identify the ‘mahāpuṇya’ place within Prabhāsa-kṣetra where the yajña should be undertaken.
Performance of yajña is explicitly intended; the proper sacred site for it is requested.
