vasiṣṭha uvāca | liṃge'smiṃstava sāṃnidhyaṃ sadā bhavatu śaṃkara | mayā pūrvaṃ pratijñātaṃ nagasyeha mahātmane | satyaṃ kuru vaco me tvaṃ yadi tuṣṭo'si śaṃkara
Type: kshetra
Scene: Vasiṣṭha, serene and authoritative, addresses the newly arisen liṅga, palms joined, requesting Śiva’s eternal presence to fulfill an earlier promise made to the mountain; the mountain appears personified subtly as a listening presence.
A dhārmic vow and truthful speech seek divine ratification; sacred sites are founded on promise, purity, and grace.
The newly manifested liṅga at Arbuda mountain is being requested to become a permanent seat of Śiva’s presence.
No detailed ritual is given; the request establishes the theological basis for ongoing liṅga worship at the site.
