Type: kshetra
Scene: Śiva grants the boon and vanishes; the devotee, moved by devotion, establishes Maheśvara—envisioned as a liṅga or sacred emblem—at the very spot of disappearance.
Śiva is pleased by sincere devotion and grants the devotee’s highest wish; sacred sites arise from such divine encounters.
The episode is part of the Tāpeśvara tīrtha origin narrative in the Revā (Narmadā) Khaṇḍa.
Sthāpana (establishing/enshrining) of Maheśvara—an etiological reference to installing Śiva’s presence (often as a liṅga) at the tīrtha.
