न चातिचिंताकुलितो न चातिक्षुत्पिपासितः । नापि स्वगुरुकर्मादौ प्रसक्तो योगमाचरेत्
na cāticiṃtākulito na cātikṣutpipāsitaḥ | nāpi svagurukarmādau prasakto yogamācaret
Man soll Yoga nicht üben, wenn der Geist durch übermäßiges Grübeln aufgewühlt ist, noch wenn man von äußerstem Hunger oder Durst gequält wird; ebenso soll man Yoga nicht beginnen, wenn man allzu sehr in eigene schwere Pflichten und Handlungen verstrickt ist. Yoga ist in Standhaftigkeit und in ausgewogenem Zustand von Körper und Geist zu vollziehen.

The verse teaches that Shiva-oriented Yoga requires inner steadiness (śānti) and bodily balance; agitation, deprivation, or compulsive busyness binds the mind to pasha (limitation), making true contemplation of Pati (Shiva) ineffective.
Linga-worship and Saguna Shiva-dhyana demand a collected mind; this instruction emphasizes preparing oneself so that japa, dhyāna, and pūjā are not performed mechanically while the mind is scattered by anxiety, hunger, or pressing worldly duties.
It suggests practising Shiva-dhyāna and mantra-japa only after basic needs are calmly met and duties are settled; then one may sit steadily for meditation—ideally with Shaiva supports like Panchakshara japa and a composed, sāttvika routine.
