संध्याचरित्रवर्णनम् (Sandhyā-caritra-varṇanam) — “Narration of Sandhyā’s Austerity and Encounter with Śiva”
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Mahadeva
Sthala Purana: Śiva directs Satī to Medhātithi’s yajña on the Chandrabhāgā bank; by Śiva’s prasāda she will be ‘vahnijā’ (fire-born) and become the sage’s daughter—an origin motif for a new embodied role leading toward later cosmic events.
Significance: Highlights the Purāṇic doctrine that tīrtha + yajña becomes a womb for divine descent; ‘matprasādāt’ marks grace as the decisive cause.
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: creative
It highlights Shiva’s anugraha (grace) as the decisive power that arranges a destined, dharmic birth—showing Pati (Shiva) guiding the soul’s journey and the unfolding of divine purpose.
The verse presents Saguna Shiva as the compassionate Lord who actively bestows boons and shapes events; such personal divine governance is central to devotional worship, including Linga-upasana grounded in trust in Shiva’s grace.
The takeaway is surrender to Shiva’s will through japa of the Panchakshara (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) and disciplined vrata (sacred observance), cultivating purity and steadiness so one lives according to dharma under Shiva’s grace.
