Post–Dakṣa-Yajña Developments and the Appeal to Viṣṇu

Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
Role: liberating
It teaches that true greatness includes humility: Rudra, though supreme, honors Viṣṇu, showing that devotion and reverence are integral to dharma and a mark of the liberated, Shaiva ideal of conduct.
Saguna Śiva is worshipped not only as the supreme Lord but also as the exemplar of right behavior; his respectful bow models the bhakti attitude that devotees bring to Liṅga worship—reverence, surrender, and absence of ego.
The takeaway is disciplined humility in worship: rise, offer praṇāma with the head bowed, and remember the Lord with devotion—this inner posture supports japa (such as the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) even when no specific rite is stated.
