The Ogresses’ Threats to Sita and Her Vow of Fidelity
मानुषी मानुषस्यैव भार्यात्वं बहुमन्यसे।प्रत्याहर मनो रामान्न त्वं जातु भविष्यसि।।5.24.3।।
mānuṣī mānuṣasyaiva bhāryātvaṃ bahumanyase |
pratyāhara mano rāmān na tvaṃ jātu bhaviṣyasi || 5.24.3 ||
Du bist nur eine Menschenfrau, und doch hältst du es für höchst wertvoll, die Gattin eines bloßen Menschen zu sein. Wende deinen Sinn von Rāma ab — sonst wirst du niemals leben.
'You are a woman, wife of Rama, an ordinary mortal you are holding in high esteem. Withdraw your mind from Rama or else you will not survive.
