समुद्रलङ्घनारम्भः
Commencement of the Ocean-Crossing
स महात्मा मुहूर्तेन सर्वतः सलिलावृतः।।।।दर्शयामास शृङ्गाणि सागरेण नियोजितः।आदित्योदयसङ्काशैरालिखद्भिरिवाम्बरम्।शातकुम्भमयैः शृङ्गैः सकिन्नरमहोरगैः।।।।
sa mahātmā muhūrtena sarvataḥ salilāvṛtaḥ |
darśayāmāsa śṛṅgāṇi sāgareṇa niyojitaḥ |
ādityodayasaṅkāśair ālikhadbhir ivāmbaraṁ |
śātakumbhamayaiḥ śṛṅgaiḥ sa-kinnara-mahoragaiḥ ||
Jener große Berg, bis dahin ringsum von Wassern bedeckt, zeigte auf Geheiß des Ozeans in einem Augenblick seine Gipfel: goldene Zinnen, bewohnt von Kinnaras und mächtigen Schlangen, strahlend wie der Sonnenaufgang und als zeichneten sie den Himmel an.
At the instance of Varuna, (the presiding deity of the ocean) the lofty mountain appeared, projecting its peaks, hitherto submerged in the water. The golden peaks inhabited by nagas and kinnaras resemmbled the rising Sun as though scraping the sky in a moment.
