Narada (teaching technical ritual applications within Vedanga/auxiliary sciences context)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhayanaka
It classifies ritual substances (dravya) by intended function, showing the text’s technical concern with correct means (upāya) and precise procedure in applied mantra-ritual practice.
This verse is not primarily bhakti-oriented; it belongs to a technical register where correct ritual methodology is emphasized rather than devotional contemplation, indicating that Narada Purana also preserves procedural sciences alongside devotional teachings.
It highlights prayoga-style ritual science—selection of specific materials (rice flour, black-gram flour, black-sesame flour) according to the rite’s intended effect—reflecting applied procedural knowledge within the Purana’s technical sections.
