The Greatness of Viṣṇu
Viṣṇor Māhātmya
Narada
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti (devotion)
Secondary Rasa: karuna (compassion)
It elevates Hari-bhakti and Hari-nāma as spiritually decisive, teaching that sincere devotion and name-chanting are worthy of reverence even when a devotee’s outward behavior is imperfect.
Bhakti is shown as centered on Hari and expressed through constant reliance on Hari’s name (nāma-parāyaṇatā); the verse implies that nāma-japa purifies and sustains the devotee, making them venerable on the devotional path.
No specific Vedāṅga technique is taught here; the practical takeaway is disciplined nāma-japa (repetition and remembrance of Hari’s name) as a daily sādhana, aligning speech and mind toward devotion.
