The Exposition of the Pratipadā Vrata for the Twelve Months
Narada (teaching to a Vipra in the vrata context, within the Narada–Sanatkumara instructional frame)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It functions as a phala-shruti: it asserts that correct performance of the prescribed vrata transforms the practitioner into a vessel of spiritual and worldly accomplishments, explicitly attributing the result to Durgā’s grace.
Bhakti is implied through prasāda—attainments are not presented as merely mechanical outcomes of ritual, but as gifts arising from the deity’s favor when the vow is performed with proper devotion and discipline.
The verse emphasizes ritual procedure (vrata-vidhi) and result statement (phala-shruti), aligning with Kalpa-oriented practice: doing the observance “thus” (ittham) is stressed as essential for the promised fruit.
