Suta (narrator) presenting the phala-śruti style fruit of hearing/reciting the Purāṇic teaching attributed to Vyāsa
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It declares that śravaṇa (listening) and pāṭha (recitation) of Vyāsa’s primordial Purāṇic teaching becomes a direct means to liberation by enabling one to transcend the terrifying cycle of saṃsāra.
By emphasizing listening and reciting, it points to core bhakti practices—kathā-śravaṇa and nāma/śāstra-pāṭha—as transformative acts that purify the mind and support liberation.
It highlights the practical discipline of correct recitation and attentive listening (pāṭha/śravaṇa), which connects with Śikṣā (phonetics) and Vyākaraṇa (language discipline) as supportive tools for preserving and internalizing sacred teaching.
