मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse emphasizes the importance of lineage and the continuity of spiritual merit: illustrious names and rishi-descents are remembered as carriers of sacred authority, learning, and ethical prestige.
Mārkaṇḍeya is listing notable descendants—seven sons associated with Aṅgiras—addressing the king and situating the ongoing story within a broader genealogical and rishi-tradition framework.
