Educational Q&A

The verse frames sacred history through lineage: knowing the origins and progeny of revered figures (like Aṅgiras) is presented as meaningful knowledge within the Mahābhārata’s dharmic narrative, linking ethical tradition to remembered genealogies.

Mārkaṇḍeya begins a genealogical account for Yudhiṣṭhira, introducing Aṅgiras (Brahmā’s third son) and his wife Subhā, and announcing that he will describe their children.
