पज्चालास्तु विशेषेण द्रोणसायकपीडिता:

Transliteration

Pāñcālāstu viśeṣeṇa droṇasāyakapīḍitāḥ.

Translation

Sañjaya berichtet: „Die Pāñcālas wurden, mehr als alle anderen, schwer heimgesucht — bedrängt und gequält — von Droṇas Pfeilen. Die Zeile zeigt, wie ein einziger Meister der Waffen das moralische Gewicht des Krieges steigern kann: Können und Pflicht im Kampf werden für die Gegenseite zu einer verdichteten Erfahrung von Leid und Verlust.“
