Transliteration

vadhyamānāni sainyāni samantāt tair mahārathaiḥ

Translation

Sañjaya sprach: Die Heere, von jenen großen Wagenkriegern ringsum niedergemäht, stürzten ins Verderben—ein Bild der unerbittlichen Wucht des Krieges, in dem die Tüchtigkeit die Menge überwältigt und die moralische Last des Gemetzels auf dem Feld liegt.
